GETTING TO LAS TERRENAS

Dominican Republic is served by a number of airlines such as Air France, Corsair, Iberia (via Madrid), Air Europa, Martinair, American Airlines (via Miami or New York) et US Airways (via Philadelphia), Continental Airlines, etc. We recommend flying into Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo or El Catey if your final destination is Las Terrenas. We advise against flying into Punta Cana as this implies a further 8 hour journey by road or expensive private internal flights.

Getting to Las Terrenas from Puerto Plata

The easiest way to reach Las Terrenas from Puerto Plata is to take a taxi (air conditioned). Flights are generally scheduled to arrive into Puerto Plata in the afternoon and you can be in Las Terrenas by evening. The journey takes around 3½ hours and costs approximately US $ 160 *..

Getting to Las Terrenas from El Catey

By taxi (air conditioned). The journey takes around 40 minutes and costs approximately US $ 50*.

Getting to Las Terrenas from Santo Domingo

The majority of international flights into Santo Domingo are scheduled to arrive late evening. Las Terrenas is a 2½ hour drive from the airport which can be very tiring after a long haul flight and there are no internal flights available at that hour to get you to Las Terrenas.

Whether you choose to travel by taxi or internal flight, we recommend you spend your first night in Santo Domingo and enjoy the evening discovering the myriad of charming little streets and restaurants to be found in the historical center known as the “Colonial Area”. Par la route : taxi ou bus.

• En taxi, deux options s’offrent à vous. Soit vous rejoignez Las Terrenas directement après votre vol international, ce qui vous fera généralement arriver tard (2h30 de route, environ 180 USD*). Soit vous faites une halte à Saint Domingue, pour continuer le trajet le lendemain. Dans ce cas, comptez 30 minutes et environ 35 USD* pour vous rendre de l’aéroport au centre ville, puis 3h pour rallier Las Terrenas le lendemain (taxi privé climatisé, 4 personnes maxi).

• En bus. C’est la solution la plus économique. Vous devez dans ce cas passer la nuit à Saint Domingue car il n’y a pas de bus la nuit, puis vous rendre à la gare routière de Saint Domingue. Consultez nous pour connaitre les horaires des bus. Comptez 15 USD* par personne. Pas de réservation possible. Le bus n’arrive pas jusqu’à Las Terrenas mais à Sanchez (à 18 km), il faudra donc finir le trajet en ’guagua’.

Par les airs : vol régulier ou vol privé.

Après avoir passé la première nuit sur Saint Domingue, vous rejoignez le lendemain en taxi l’aéroport national de La Isabela situé à l’Ouest de Saint Domingue et profitez du vol régulier. Vous rejoindrez en 30 minutes l’aérodrome de Portillo, situé à 4 kilomètres de Las Terrenas. Superbe survol de l’île.

• Vol régulier La Isabela/Portillo tous les jours à 10h00 et 16H00. Tarif : 80 USD* par personne pour un aller simple. Demi-tarif pour les enfants de moins de 8 ans.

• En avion privé depuis l’aéroport national de La Isabela ou depuis l’aéroport international Las Americas si votre vol international arrive tôt. Attention la piste de l’aérodrome de Portillo n’étant pas éclairée, il n’est pas possible d’atterrir après le coucher du soleil, soit en moyenne après 18h00.

LOCATION DE VEHICULES

Nous réservons également pour vous les excursions proposées dans la région. Pour l’observation des baleines avec Kim Beddall (proposée de janvier à fin mars), nous vous conseillons vivement de réserver avant même votre arrivée à Las Terrenas du fait de la forte demande et de la faible capacité du bateau.
